Meet Kathie Fitzgerald!

Born and raised in the Boston area (Go Pats! Go Sox!), I relocated to Fairfield County to pursue a career in high tech. After spending a few years in Northern California, my husband and I found ourselves back in Connecticut, where we raised our family.

Although my 3 now young adult children are off living their lives, I remain in Connecticut with my husband and rescue dog, Ridley.

About me:

Prior to receiving my masters degree from Fairfield University, I spent several years in Corporate America, where I consulted with top technology companies to develop and execute corporate and product marketing strategies.

I then spent the next 10 years as a full time, stay-at-home mom.

As much as I loved working in the corporate world and staying home with my kids, I always envisioned myself in a job that emphasized my empathic and insightful nature. When my children were in school full time, I completed my masters degree and launched my career in therapy and I am so glad I did- I can honestly say, I love what I do everyday!

Why did I become a therapist?

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, my approach is goals-oriented, solution focused--emphasizing "where would you like to be" and "how can you best get there". I work collaboratively with my clients to identify destructive patterns and provide guidance and support, enabling clients to break destructive patterns and move forward.

As a person and a therapist, I am empathetic, gentle and insightful, yet honest and direct. I provide a warm, safe, nurturing environment in which clients can explore limitless possibilities and realize successful outcomes.

What can you expect from me as your therapist?

I have the experience and skills to work with clients within many demographics.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege to serve a multitude individuals, couples and families seeking many different types of support, opportunities for growth or the desire to develop skills to improve their lives.

Early in my career as a therapist, I provided counseling services to people from many walks of life: including, but not limited to homelessness, single/teen mothers and women incarcerated/post-incarceration.

Today, much of my practice is dedicated to supporting clients in improving their "family system". This includes blended and extended family, divorced/separated parents looking for tools to coparent, or even simply improving communication dynamics between family members.
